News: Is Freeborn back on track? Rumour?
Freeborn is a contemporary African multi-rhythm band that is made up of four energetic, creative and talented men which includes Ladi Wilkey, Tosin Kinyomi TK, Segun Cooper and Biodun Cooper, the band was formed in May, 2004 in one of the oldest neighbourhoods of Lagos, Ebute Metta.
In times past, Freeborn has worked with several producers and artistes such as Cobhams Asuquo, Kenny K'ore, Provabs just to mention a few. Freeborn is known for madmusic. Their hit singles include "Ati Jelo" featuring Tintin, they dropped their debut album titled "The First Chapter" and also released another album titled "Fujitive". Both albums encompassed genres such as afro pop, afro reggae, afro rnb which also included rock, rap and synthesizers. It is the music that is simply out-of-the-box.
In the years of their musical career, they were planning on releasing a mode sophomore album titled "Tales of the unexpected" with scheduled dates. But along the line, some things happened (personal pursuits to achieve more in other fields of entertainment), almost like the Rooftop MCs (Sokleva & Soul Snatcha) until recently when one of the members made it mention to us right at the Segun Cooper & the Flames of Worship monthly concert themed "Nights of Worship" that Freeborn is going back to the studio, this was so keen as we went deeper having a discussion about the band's disappearance from the industry for about three years and some months. This information has put so many stories in the mouths of the many in the societies, clubs, churches, universities etc.
